About Dr. Stacy Bang

Stacy Bang, MD, is a fellowship-trained ophthalmologist and corneal specialist. After graduating from medical school at The George Washington University in Washington, D.C., she completed her internship at the Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia and her residency at MedStar Georgetown University/Washington Hospital Center, where she was chief resident. Dr. Bang completed her fellowship training at the Wilmer Eye Institute, Johns Hopkins Medicine, in Baltimore. She also earned a Master of Public Health from George Washington University. Dr. Bang’s main areas of expertise include diseases of the cornea, complex cataract surgery, infections and dystrophies of the cornea, dry eye syndrome, and ocular surface diseases. Dr. Bang’s research has been published in several peer-reviewed journals, including Ophthalmology and American Journal of Ophthalmology. She is the clinical director of the Washington National Eye Center and is actively involved in resident education where she earned the Golden Apple Award, their most prestigious teaching award twice. Dr. Bang is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and past president of Washington DC Metropolitan Ophthalmic Society.

She’s committed to teaching all of her patients about their condition so they understand how it will affect their vision and can be informed partners in making decisions about their care. When Dr. Bang is not at work, she enjoys traveling with her family and friends. She loves watching and playing sports with her husband and two sons. She's also involved in international charity work in Guatemala, providing free eye care and surgery to patients in underserved areas.
